My hand-picked TOP online BEAUTY brands as a Professional Makeup Artist

Updated: May 12, 2020

In this blog I will be discussing my TOP 5 Online Makeup Brands that I have bought and will continue to buy products from (until the end of time)

Anyone who knows me professionally or personally understands it’s no secret I am a perfectionist, especially when it comes to choosing quality products and brands that, not only look after my clients and I’s skin, but also give amazing results for the complete amateur to seasoned professional.

These brands I am sharing with you are ones, over a beauty and shopping addiction of 8+ years, I have come to love to use in my professional and personal life.

Quality product doesn’t necessarily mean it needs to be expensive either, so I am happy to share brands with you that, in my opinion, are actually more on the affordable side when it comes to the beauty industry. I will also share my “Hero Product” of each brand so you know exactly what to look into buying for yourself.

Number #1 LimeCrime Makeup Let’s start with my OG favourite brand LimeCrime.

LimeCrime were one of the first brands on the market, for at least 11+ years to perfect and curate a liquid lipstick formula that is long-wearing, eye safe as well as affordable too. Not only were they one of the Old School makeup brands to curate and perfect this line of innovative product, but they’re also one of the original brands to design and make quality eyeshadows that are highly pigmented, creamy and also cruelty free - how cool right!

I still use their Liquid Velvetine's and Venus Eyeshadows palettes to this day. And with the growth and popularity of any brand, comes the innovation, curation and perfection of other quality products, their brow products and lip glosses being of another personal favourite.

You can find LimeCrime products via their website and also on Discount Beauty Boutique

Number #2 Peaches&Cream Makeup

Another favourite brand come’s from my heritage country, England Peaches&Cream Makeup

Peaches&Cream Makeup have cult worthy, easily applied and extremely affordable pigments as well as an amazing synthetic brush, false lash, lip gloss and highlighter range. When I travelled to the UK in 2018, I was so excited to be able to shop easily online and purchase their products, even though they do ship internationally and you can source them locally from other Australian websites, I was impatient and wanted my paws on them ASAP to be able to start having a play!

I take all my glamour makeover’s up a notch by using one of their pigments. These pigments come in different finishes of refined shimmers and glitters.

They’re amazing as they’re multi-functional too! You can use a glitter glue to make them an eyeshadow, or to top over an eyeliner, or use their accompanying accessory known as “Pigment Drops” to turn these beautiful micro milled pots of technicolour into gorgeous body shimmers and highlights.

Their pigments aren’t their only heroes, the whole range, in my opinion, is so affordable but quality product, nothing you purchase would be disappointing. Their glosses are as pigmented but aren’t too sticky either, nothing more irritating then when lip glosses are too tacky that your lips stick together! Their glosses are also relatively long-wearing too, I mean unless you’re eating or drinking hot food, then a tinted lipstick, oil or a matte liquid lipstick would be more suitable for your munching needs.

You can buy a range of Peaches&Cream makeup directly via their website, and also on

Pretty Little Thing for Australian customers. For some major COLOUR INSPO too, I highly recommend checking out their Instagram page for inspiring makeup artistry looks and skills.

Number #3 Colourpop Cosmetics

A next favourite is Colourpop Cosmetics.

Colourpop first entered the makeup realm with their innovative gel to cream pressed eyeshadow formulas. Since then, they have extended their repertoire with an extensive range of product, including eyeshadow pans, palettes, foundations, concealers, brow products, mascaras, eyeliners as well as skincare with their sister brand Fourth Ray. The list really does go on.

What separates Colourpop away from other brands is their high-end quality and innovative product and colour range at an extremely affordable and budget friendly cost for everyone. It is catered from a novice artist to working professionals. A personal favourite is their Pretty Fresh range - a gorgeous Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturiser and matching concealer with Coconut Water, suitable for all skin types, but best suited for more dehydrated to distressed skin types. This product is a great formula to keep your skin plump and hydrated all day long!

Colourpop’s also more accessible then ever with affordable international shipping, which 5+ years ago importing from the US could be as costly as the product you were buying itself, so thankfully that’s no longer the case. Anyone who is new to the world of colour, regardless of how neutral or bold you want to go, or even skincare, I highly recommend shopping and buying items from Colourpop - you won’t be disappointed!

Number #4 Juvias Place Cosmetics

Juvias Place entered a point into the beauty market where coming across saturated and highly pigmented eyeshadow formulas suitable for all complexions was limited. Their original palette, The Nubian Palette, with a mixture of rich, neutral and deep warm toned colours shook through beauty airwaves. With a swipe of your brush or finger, it was apparent the quality of product you were getting from The Nubian Palette. This eyeshadow palette quickly took off into stardom, being used by iconic influencers like Makeup Shayla and Nikkietutorials, which would help sky rocket their brand’s identity into the beauty stratosphere.

Today, Juvias Place has a repertoire of amazing eyeshadows of multiple colour stories, neutral, warm, cool and bold, as well as amazing and affordable complexion products, such as foundations, concealers, blushes and highlighters - to name a few!

This brand moves through the beauty community from strength to strength, innovating and creating a coloured path in their wake. Another thing I truly love about this brand is their diversity and celebration of all complexions and nationalities, especially women and men with a deeper skin tone.

All people are beautiful and unique in their own way, Juvias Place definitely celebrates the unity and community in artistry culture that is needed to move through this modern world.

You can find a range of Juvias Place products on their website Beauty Bay and Black Swallow

Number #5 Makeup Geek Cosmetics

Makeup Geek turned into another cult beauty classic in the community as they were one of the first, trending brands to make DIY eyeshadow palettes at an affordable price. They shook the community to it’s core with their highly pigmented, blendable and versatile colour range and innovative formula. These singular eyeshadows range from $5usd to $9usd each!

The great thing about MakeupGeek is they tapped into the market and identified an area of opportunity when it came to eyeshadow palettes, by introducing varying size ranges to cater to someone new and starting their collection, to an avid beauty collector. Another great thing, you can build your own colour story with whatever shades you want, because let’s be real, every purpose built eyeshadow palette has at least 1 to 3 shades that barely get used or touched. Their initiative in identifying an area in the market that needed diversity assisted in raising them to global super stardom in, what I call the beauty community boom, circa 2014-2016.

They’ve diversified their product range further by adding complexion products, including blushes, highlighters and bronzers, as well as lip liners, pigments and lipsticks.

Since then, Makeup Geek has announced a rebranding in 2020 of their packaging and product range, changing from the traditional O shaped pan, to a square, so it fits into your magnetic palette with more precision and aesthetic, good for those fellow perfectionists out there like me haha

Makeup Geek - another great brand for anyone wanting to start or build their collection at a cost effective price. You can buy Makeup Geek products directly via their website.
